Junior Mentorship Program
Supporting aged-up juniors in their transition to adult roller derby.
Goals
– The Junior Mentorship Program is designed to provide structure, guidance, and support for junior skaters moving into adult roller derby. Through mentorship, community engagement, and structured involvement.
– This program ensures that aged-up juniors feel welcomed, prepared, and confident in their new league environment.
Program Components
– Mentorship: Each aged-up junior is paired with an experienced Junior Mentor (JM) who will provide guidance, check-ins, and support throughout their first year in the league.
– Community Gatherings: Regular meetups, social events, and support groups will help build relationships, integrate into the league, and navigate the transition with confidence.
Who Qualifies?
– League members who have aged up from a junior roller derby league.
– Young adults ages 18-24 who are new to adult roller derby.
What can you expect?
As part of the transition into adult derby, you will:
– Hold a bout day job and/or shift for each bout during their first 6 months.
– Communicate with your mentor weekly and establish a communication system that works for you.
– Job shadow three different league roles in months 6-12, with guidance from your mentor.
– Attend junior transition committee social gatherings when available.
